Welsh Rarebit

Rarebit ?

I tried that once, cost me like £6. Didn't know what i was buying at the time except it sounded filling (I was hungry). Hated it.

Is that the same as eggy bread? Bread coated in beaten egg and shallow fried?

Nope.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egg_in_the_basket

Egg in the basket (egg in the hole in Commonwealth countries) refers to a chicken's egg fried in a hole of a slice of bread. Known by countless names in various countries, it is a common comfort food. For example, this dish is sometimes referred to as one eyed jack when the cut out section of bread is fried and then placed back on the yolk, like an eye patch.

Eggy bread/french toast is also awesome though.

i'm just tucking into a nice fillet steak and onion baguette with mayonnaise, gorgeous mmmmmmmmm.

I lie the toaster on it's side so I can put the bread in it with the cheese already on. I know it's lazy and probably dangerous but that's the way I like to do it.

Once you have it done spread some strawberry jam on the grilled cheese.... Amazing.

does it not shoot out onto the floor/table when its done toasting?

Thats an awsome idea :)

I do prefer beans on toast though Mmmmm....:P

Well it does pop out but the weight on the cheese stops it from going to far. You just need to be ready with it. I put a breadboard infront of the opening of the toaster.

i need to change the toaster now. I have been cooking fish fingers in as well, it's starting to get a bit smelly now.

LOL multi-purpose toaster :p Definitely getting your moneys worth! Try putting it in the dish-washer, it works for keyboards :D

I tried an egg in the kettle but it burst on the element and fried the kettle. The misses was not best pleased.

Steak + caramelised onion + mayo (if you so choose) = winner's choice. Easy to make. Fast to prepare. 0-tasty in about hmm 7minutes if you're slow.

Failing that: Bacon sandwich :D. 4 rashers of good (English!) bacon. HP sauce. TOASTED bread omg, don't not toast the bread :o.

Fresh pasta + fresh salsa. Takes as long as you want it to: top speed from Voltar is normally 6min as water doesn't insta-boil unless you have super powers.

Tortellini 'challenge' 2min cook time 0 min prep time. Get a whole pack of your preferred tortellini and chow down. Unfortunately, as I'm sure many of the OcUK bigmen will agree, this isn't much of a challenge :p but still worth a shot!

I hear that the Welsh Rarebit is now an endangered species, as is the wild Haggis, a true legend of Scottish Wildlife.

^^ That's what you get if you're gonna call Cheese on Toast a Rarebit from Wales lol!

omg. I've just had lunch and now I'm hungry again. I'm going to have to stop looking in this thread now.

I'll leave you with this dish I invented at Uni:

1 Pack of noodles
Fozen peas
Bread
Butter

Cook noodles in pan, add peas at appropriate time. Season with salt + pepper.
Empty contents to bowl.
Butter two slices of bread.
Put some of the noddles in the bread.
Enjoy noodle sandwich.
????????
PROFIT
