Houllier has brought JOY to MILLIONS?
Thats the funniest thing ive ever heard.
Its not people like wenger and houllier who matter, its the little people who do big things that matter, Houllier and wenger no more deserve an OBE than Ted Bundy deserves cannonising.

Apparently the awards are not for their footballing achievements as such, but for 'outstanding contributions by non Britons to British culture & lifestyle'

They are 'only' honorary ones & they will be awarded them by Jack Straw & not the Queen. On a plus note though Alec Stewart is getting a proper one

I'm a bit late in on this one but I'd personally prefer to give the OBE to the team of dedicated medical personnel who attended Houllier and who's skill ensured that he WAS able to live a normal life afterwards.
The complete honours list will certainly make interesting reading once it is published. And slightly off topic (sorry), how many honours do you recon will be presented to nurses? That's nurses who actually undertake practical nursing work on a regular basis as opposed to those nurses who graduated to RSN negotiators etc!

wats wrong with french people! They might of done a lot of charity work, they might of put a lot of effort into the youth systems etc. Just coz what they do in their private lives isnt well known it doesnt mean they sit at home with their millions and do nothing. Amazing how people can judge a person on just what the press tell them.....

Dead easy that ....................... they're French! Them and Us go back a long time
Occasionally we take pity on 'em and go over and rescue them from the clutches of the occasional foreign power. Only so that we can fight 'em again, you understand. Actually I really don't have a problem with 'em. Until, that is, someone talks about giving Houllier an OBE 'cos he recovered from a heart attack!
