West Mids get together

no but the point im making is that it dont matter how fast your car is when your on public roads, you just dont ever get the space to open up a decent gap. Because for every car that is doing 40/50/60 or whatever when your trying to do 80, youll be loosing ground.

I drive on B roads every day, and i see it all the time. The idiot with the fast car who overtakes every1 dangerously. As said, i nearly allways end up catching them up further up the road, as they get stuck in traffic, and thats without trying to keep up.

Seriously, on populated non race track roads, you just cant open up that much of a gap on a car that is too travelling at 80. Yeah youll open up a half mile gap as you accelerate hard away. but that will vanish as soon as you come across the next car and have to slow to 60 waiting for an oppertunity to pass clearly.

I'm very tempted by this, although i'm only running 170bhp, but i'm sure I can make up for that :) Check out any Manchester Meet reports for my CV.

And MrLOL, No.
Certain cars are made & tweaked with B-road hammering at the front of the list, blowing away 'normal cars' on these roads is totally where it's at.

all very well and good if you're on completely empty B roads, but how many of them are there ?

and even if they are pretty empty. If your doing 80/90 you'll soon catch up to the next car thats doing 50 that you have to slow to wait to overtake.

show me a B road you can drive round on for hours and not see any1, yeah your average car wont be able to keep up

but roads arent like this.

You see this on the backroads to skegness. Every year we go there, and every year the road is full of loons racing on the backroads. And whats more every year, you allways end up cathing them further up stuck behind a tractor/truck/learner whatever.

Don't throw a paddy just because your car isn't fast. I've seen the vid of those blokes with the teg, mondeo and that rover. Now i'm not saying you're anything like those blokes, but if you drive anywhere near as fast as them i'm thinking 200bhp should be the very minimum! ;) ;) :p

You have clearly never been to a Manchester Meet. It does depend on the choice of road to an extent, we drive roads that are pretty much clear 80% of the time.

Please leave this thread and don't come back. You have said that you have no interest in the meet, which means you therefore have no interest in the organisation or the paticipants.

Next time, I think an email organisation is due.

I really can't. I'll have done 1000 miles in two days, with a wedding in between, and I have to be at Goodwood for breakfast by 8am on the 4th. It's not impossible, but I'll only be capable of pottering along at 30mph by the time I get there :).

It's not about leaving people behind though, it's about being able to keep up... makes no sense I know, but someone will know what I mean !

got to be totally honest, someone in a new focus ST was 'giving it large' infront of me at a roundabout a few weeks back, we pulled off, got to the dual carridgeway exit and I was doing about 25 in 1st, he went for it, as did I, and it wasnt until I went for 3rd that he started to noticably pull away (it was almost as though I came off the gas at that point mind !) so I could quite feasibly say sam could keep up...

(obviously, I dont know how hard he accelerated, or in what gear)
