Just had a browse at tomshardware and they're raving about these new drives

Are they really raptor performance on a 7200rpm spindle?

What's the noise like?

yeah they suppose to rock they suppose to be same simalar performance o raptor except for the average seek time i think were it is still fraction longer but that is only casue of the 7200 speed.

I wouldn't say they are Raptor performance, but they are definitely great drives. I bought a 320gb AAKS a while back to replace my 74Gb Raptors in RAID0 and was very impressed with the 'downgrade'.

I wouldn't be overly loyal to any brand on any component - but definitely would lean towards a Western Digital drive of any type.

The 750GB part is the only one that really puts the 3G Raptors to shame but the others are still very fast. They still can't compete with the seek times of a 10k disk, however.

yeah, its £125 on atleast 3 sites now, i bought mine 1 week ago for £125 from 1 site, then the other sites price matched them, its very quick and quiet, fantastic purchase!
