Odd question I know :)

I've got one here that has lost all it's partitions and data, does anybody know if these drives come pre-partitioned or if it is left to the end user to do?

Thanks.

Yep they are pre partitioned, atleast my 250gb portable one was. Mine came with a nice little .ico ;) Also has some backup software bundled with it iirc

Thanks droyden, can you tell me what formating was used at all? Single partition, NTFS?

Yup pretty sure it was fat32 aswell

Edit: single partition as far as I know, never checked. never really thought about it :D can check when I get home if you need

hi, sorry totally forgot until just now. just plugged it in, I must have reformatted it as its ntfs but just checked in dskmgr and there is only 1 partition - hope this helps!
it definitely game pre partitioned though

edit: if there is data on it, there was some app that you could use to recover partition tables. I'll try and find out what it was

Already tried testdisk to recover the partition data, it came up with some odd mac formatting which is why I asked.

Ah ok, mine is only 250GB :(
I was thinking I could give you the partition layout from mine. It could be an idea if you use fdisk or something to create a full partition then toggle the partition type to fat32 see if you can access any of the files? You could back it up if you have another ~1TB of space spare :p
