Western Digital "intellipower"

I've been looking at hard drives and came across a good one, seeing it had intllipower, I looked into what it was and found out that the hard drive varies its speed depending on load.

Now I was wondering if anyone has a intllipower hard drive and if it randomly drops in speed when your using it, ie loading a game installing something or whatever or if its reliable and stays at the faster speed when in use?

Its a grey area, as far as a lot of sources are concerned intellipower drives stay at 5400RPM all the time.

I've owned a few WD Greens and never heard them spin up/down.
