So i bought a WD 1TB mybook earlier on in the year, turned it on and nothing happened, no lights, no sounds, nothing. Had a mess around with it, tried going through the manual ect but it seems well and truly dead, or at least the board is dead.
This drive has some important backups on there so i decided to rip the HDD out and connect it to my PC (windows 7) to try and recover the data that way. All connected fine but it wasn't showing up in My Computer, took a look into the disc manager and it's showing up in there but with no drive letter, so it's showing that it's working. Normally you would right click on the drive and assign a letter to it but i have no way of doing it, the only available options is to view the properties of the drive and change it to a dynamic disc, nothing else.
My question is; what the hell do i try now? I've tried looking around on the net and can't find anything so im looking to the guru's of overclockers for some help
