Hi guys

I hope you can help me with my new WD myBook, it's the 500gb Network version.

I have one PC, two laptops, all connected wireless to my router. The myBook connects to the router and therefore you should be able to retrieve all the data from wherever you are in my house, all though I though...

It uses this software called MioNet that seems a nightmare to use, all I want to do is have the myBook listed in My Computer and I can retrieve data, yet the drive doesn't get listed here, just my drives from the computers on the network??

Does anyone have this drive and has got it to work without the software?

Thanks

Andy

I have the 500gb models as well, not taken the software out of the cd case yet and don't plan to.
Get rid of mionet and never use it, it's a total P.O.S from looking around at user feedback.

As for using it as a networked share, log into the the web based management of the mybook (type mybookworld in the browser) default password is 123456 and user name is admin.

Set it up as you wish and make sure to give the drive name as it makes it easier.
After that, just go to my computer and either create a new mapped network drive or new network location and type in \\thenameofthenasdrive\public or whatever folders you have setup.

This is all trusting you have not already done this with the mionet software. In which case, reset the nas box using the reset button on the back.
