Ive had Western digital drives for a fair few years now but ive been hearing good things about the seagate ones. However i dont want the noisy version of the seagate. WD have been good for me and they sent me back a brand new one even when one of mine corrupt. Should I stick with WD or try a seagate?

I think im gonna get a 320gb

i think i have a .9 seagate, which is quite loud ( when in use... not spinning idle ) i chose it because they are meant to be the most reliable drives out there.
got mine in a silentmaxx enclosure to keep the noise down a little.
cant comment on the .10's though im afraid.

I've got both a 250GB WD2500KS & a 320GB 7200.10. Both are very quiet (WD just edges it) and the Seagate is a fraction faster. I think it is unlikely you would get a noisy Seagate now but if in doubt you would be happy with the WD.

i have had 4 WDs die on me sinse i started custom building machines, my current rig cosists of 90% seagate and 1 WD raptor for the speed and 5 year warrenty, my seagate .10 320gbs are incredible fast and when compared with a .9 they are even faster, im going to say seagate as ive never had a problem with em at all, all my drives work as they should and are silent so im going to continue to buy them.

Seagates are quietest at idle but when spinning i prefer the samungs as they are a much duller tone and so seem a tiny bit quieter
