Well my WD500GB died on me, Wedensday mourning got my RMA No from their website, boxed it up. Mailed it that mourning, got an e-mail saying that they had received it Thursday, another one saying it had been shipped Friday. To be delivered by UPS should arrive Tuesday.

WD collection point is Swindon for the UK and the harddrive's are shipped from Hungry, rather strange l thought, wouldn't you think they would keep a stock of HDD's at Swiddon save a lot on delivery cost's..

All good. :)

Western Digital were good when I RMA my laptop hard drive, took about a week from me sending and then receiving the new one. I had to send mine to Heathrow handling which they forwarded onto WD.

I used their advance service.
give tehm CC number and they just send a new drive out.
They don't charge you anything if they receive the faulty drive

Sorry to bump an old thread but it does look as if my Westen Digital Velociraptor has died. At first I thought it might be the motherboard or even possibly the cpu, but after putting in my old Seagate drive I am now sure it is the Velociraptor which is at fault.

I have read the above posts and am considering using the 'advanced' service, is there anything else anyone can think of that I need to know? Should I even RMA to WD or instead send it to OCUK?

Thanks. :)

I'm in the process of doing an advanced RMA for a WD 2TB Green.

Did the thing at 2AM at night, drive was shipping out the next day.

If it wasn't for the fact it was a Saturday I'd have my drive now, but it's going to be here Monday!

Nothing to know tbh, pretty good service IMO.

Ok, good that sounds good. I'll just re-test once more to make sure and then start the RMA procedure.

Only thing is it would be nice if it could perform one last task by allowing me to format it before sending it off; I've been working on a project over the last two years and although I've got several copies on memory sticks, I don't really fancy someone else looking at my work. (Although I'm sure they have better things to do, bearing in mind they deal with umpteen returns all the time).

Well, just tried using the WD drive and although it occasionally lets me get to desktop, it won't however let me open anything up, like AMD control panel for example. If I could I would run a test or two so see what is reported.
