Basically a friends laptop died on him, i had a look for him and it turns out it was a faulty drive. He was going away today and needed it all fixed up for the trip.

So on Tuesday i ordered a replacement drive for him. (not from here)
Later that day i thought sod it, checked on the WD site to see if by anychance the drive was under warranty, turns out it was (had 7 weeks left ) So i filled in the RMA and sent it off tuesday afternoon.

So wednesday come and no drive (from other etailor) I call them, turns out my drive was sent to york! so they said it would be friday

Today I get a package delivered, dig straight in (was in a rush) install the drive and start installing the OS. Whilst doing this I receive another package, which I sign for with a confused look on my face, take a closer look at it, and it's from said etailer. So I'm thinking great they've sent me 2 bloody drives!

I quickly checked on-line and it's just saying 1 parcel sent and received, great I think, I got a free drive!!!!! so I spend the next hour or so finishing up the install of the OS and bits. (And wondering what I would get for the extra drive on ebay) Once I got that done I flipped over the laptop to put it back together.

Then it happened!! I noticed the drive I installed was a Western Digital drive (had ordered a Samsung) Turns out the WD RMA had arrived QUICKER than the replacement I ordered on the very same day.

So hats off to WD and their top notch service

Sorry for the long story, just thought I'd share my story with you

ps the other drive has been returned!

I've done 3 RMA's with WD, and to be honest their Black Edition drives are only worth it for the 5 year warranty you get and the RMA service they provide.

also, they tend to upgrade you when they replace the drive :-)
