Just had my WD Raptor X 150gb drive, (the one with the window on it) fail on me and sent it back to wd under rma, how long does it usually take to have it replaced? and am i likely to get back a raptor X drive, since presumably they no longer make these?

I presume you will..
My m8 had a return of one of his Raptor X drives and he had the same model returned.
As far as warranty was concerned on his he had the same warranty remaining on the drive as the one he returned.
I think all that they do now is just send out a refurbished one but you still get to keep your remaing warranty..

They'll often trade up if needed. Had a pair of 74GB raptors I bought from the members market on here that turned up rattling around a fair sized cardboard box (no idea what the sender was thinking :o ) returned them seperately and got a better 74GB raptor for the first and a 150GB raptor for the second.

I sent a WD drive back on the 22nd Dec, recieved by WD on the 24th, replacement shipping on the 29th which arrived yesterday.

Mine is still a current drive, and I got the same back. I assume you will get the same drive unless they've finally run out and you may get an upgrade.

Little update i sent the drive off on the 4th of january i think it was, they recieved it on the 5th of january according to DHL, it is still showing that it is not recieved on their RMA page and today is the 17th of january :( I have contacted them and they just said it takes 7 working days to process it on their system which has passed anyway so not sure why they told me this. So no idea what to do!

Dhl says they have it and have given me proof of delivery which i have emailed to them, Western digital say it never arrived :(

Wishing i had sent it royal mail now and not DHL!

You may have been unlucky, I returned a 150gb Raptor middle of last year and it took less than 7 working days from me sending the drive back to getting my replacement. The drive was shipped from Germany I think.

Another update after many emails and phone calls to DHL and Western digital i have managed to get a replacement drive sent to me atlast! No idea if WD eventually got the drive but by the sound of it they didnt! Recieved the drive yesterday it was a WD velociRaptor 150gb, which obviously does not have the see through window that the Raptor X has, but from what i have read the velociRaptor is a faster drive! so all turned out well in the end :)
