Western Digital SATA II

I bought a Western Digital 320GB SATA II 16MB Cache drive just over a week ago, and the reading and writing noise is driving me nuts. I have had four Western Digital IDE drives in the past, and none of them ever made this much noise when reading and writing!

LMAO - hate to butt in on this couple's tiff you two seem to be having, but I thought I'd add some input here.

Not all are loud reading and writing. I've had 2x 500GB versions (SATA-II WD5000KS which should have more platter and heads) and they have both been whisper quiet - sounds like you were just unlucky.

My WD 250GB makes a louder whine in general but the Seagate 320GB Clicks louder when accessing - seems you cant win either way!
