I'm with jaybee on this.
I've been following SSD developments ever since the first twinkle in the eyes of the OCZ guys.
I realise they are a performance part and I'm fully aware I only need a small (60-120GB) drive for my OS and apps/games. But they are still priced way too high.
As soon as an acceptable drive comes out at around £1.50/GB max that doesnt need a firmware update every other month ill be all over it. Last year it looked like we were getting there, the 64GB Crucial M225 originally retailed at less than £100 (wish I had got one then!) and it looked like there would be a bit of a price/performace war. Since then each new drive seems to add very little to performance while the price stays very high and I don't see an end to this cycle until into next year.
These WD SSDs are just another example of similar performance and much too high prices (although by the sounds of it they've got the not updating firmware part down).
I don't need SSD for the time being until Windows 8 come out!
