western digital warranty

i got a wd160gb external drive about 6 months ago for my laptop but when i went back 2 my desktop computer i took the hhd out of the external box . now my hhd has died and i need 2 send it back .is it still in warranty because its been taken out of the Hard Drive Enclosure?

If it came supplied in an enclosure then yes removing it could well have voided the warranty. However I couldn't possibly condone sticking it back in the enclosure and giving it a try....
