Hey folks,

Thought I would throw this in here as I don't wish to wait days or eternally for an answer from Western Digital.

I had a 150gb Raptor go 'kaput!' on me a few weeks ago - clicking and everything.

Anyway, sent in for an RMA and just got the replacement drive in the post and it has a warranty until 6th May 2008.

The original drive had warranty until 25th January 2011.

I used the express rma where they send me a replacement drive out and I send them the faulty one back afterwards - will they up my warranty period until 25/01/2011 on the replacement drive, once I return the faulty drive or am I stuck with that warranty on the replacement until May 2008.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of this as it obviously de-values the drive significantly. Will also have a search about but would like to know sharpish.

Thanks :)

p.s Drive was made 2 days after Christmas 2007 so I assume it's brand new and not an old refurb model low on actual warranty.

Hi. i had the same problem with my 150gb Raptor. i sent it back and they sent me a 160gb Raptor back. as soon as you send your old drive back they will up the warranty on the new drive. but it took them about 3 weeks before they changed the date on my new drive .

yer they seem very slow to respond to anything . but dont worrie about it they will get around to giving you the extra warranty that your old drive had.

Top man. :)

I really should have had a good look before starting a thread. I guess I have little faith in those searches usually. Unfounded it has turned out to be.

Thanks once again

Should have sent it back too where you bought it from considering it was only a few months old!
The place where I buy my components would have sent me a brand new drive and passed on the faulty one too WD.
