WD drives have a jumper on the back to set them to run at SATA-1 but this normally isn't enabled when the drive comes from the manufacturer.

It's worth checking through device manager to see if the SATA controller is a) capable of SATA2 and b) set to run at SATA2.

how do i go about doing that?

i thought all the ports on the Asus P5B are sata 2
