Weston Super Maire

Damn you, everytime I hear Weston Super Maire, I think of that scene.

Me too :)

Bristol is quite nice, I would stay there.

Me too

Sounds like a charming place then. I'll book some other stuff too, never been to Cheddar Gorge either.

I was disappointed by the lack of cheese.

If you like cider, we found this on the way back

All I know is that there was a Radio 1 roadshow there many years ago as I remember hearing that on the radio, maybe there still is?

If you really want to see the Sea take a visit in the Weston Wheel ;)

There is a helicopter museum to visit, For food I would drive out of Weston and go to the Thatcher's cider pub called the Railway inn http://www.therailwayinn.com/

I would probably go visit Well's and have a look around the cathedral and the Wells Bishop's Palace & Gardens then maybe pay a visit top Wookie Hole caves.

Good fish and chips: http://www.papasukltd.com/ (bonus points for the music attached to the website, and celebrity endorsements)

it's got the same problems as any other coastal town, and saying you'd be better off staying in Bristol because it's nicer is (IMO) a bit of a misnomer.
Everywhere has its nice bits and its not-so-nice bits. Bristol has Easton and St Pauls, which is a lot more grim than a family-orientated sea front with plenty of little attractions of varying interest.

This area looks like a building site in google maps: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.3...4!1sPAxvysSv-KnVSLK1pitRNA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 but now has a Nandos, Cineworld, Pizza Express, and a few other restaurants I've heard good things about, like one called "7bone". There's also a Japanse restaurant just around the corner from there that I like called Yoji

Be careful where you park also. Especially if you have a disabled, Welsh or Scottish flag on your vehicle, Avon and Somersets finest would rather single those out than arrest blatant open air drug dealing going on in the winter gardens and under the pier (which you have to pay £1 to go on) That is unless they have now been reassigned to the social media cruel words department....

Weston has improved a lot over the last few years, there has been a lot of work done on the sea front. The dolphin centre which was an eyesore has been demolished and the town centre has a newer shopping mall. Living in Bristol we normally take the kids for day trips a few times a year and have noticed the improvements.

It's not a dive is it?
Weston? It's pretty much a dive, in my opinion. I only really go there for the motorbike meet ups these days. Cheap fish and chips though.

Everyone seems to have a crutch, mobility scooter or some other disability that'll stop them working.

If you're familiar with Bristol, I would describe Weston-Super-Mare as a blown up version of Bedminster's East Street.
