Wetherspoons pubs

I guess thinking about it, i cant stand the "corporate hell yea" types either. Just have a chuckle to yourself and laugh at the corporate slaves :)

they are mostly posing and think they're ace.

Generally if we go to a pub at lunchtime it's because we want food and drink. I have a job, does that make me a business type?

I like 'spoons. Decent beer, passable food and the price is right.

I was in my local today with the missus for food we both got the gourmet burger and they were vile there was no taste at all and the chips were dry/old only reason we went was because they used to be nice. And my pint didn't taste the same as normal either.

i hate the places, the only slightly good thing about about them is the cheapness.

They generally have plenty of beer, but its always served too cold. I hate the fact that the tops of the bar and tables are always covered in spilt drinks/salt/pepper/food remains.

The staff are generally a load of numpties who really don't want to be doing what they are doing.

And the food is rubbish. The gf used to work their, pretty much everything is bought in ready made and packed and just microwaved. When you order soup for a starter and it comes out with a skin on top, then the main comes which is 150 degrees on the outside and cold on the inside!

And I am also afraid to say all our local one does is attract the dregs, they queue up at 9 in the morning and sit in there all day getting off their face.

Rant over!

Agreed. We've got 2 here, one is the original Weatherspoons. Both are amazing buildings which could be brilliant pubs, but they are complete crap now, full of chavs scrambling for the cheap booze.

The drinks are alright, but the food is bloody awful. The worst thing is the lack of anything that can be described as atmosphere. Only weatherspoons have the ability to take a really nice building and remove everything that would make it a pleasant place to be. I'm not a fan of loud pubs but a bit of music or something to drown out the constant chav chatter...

lol Indeed, I was there on Sunday and was treated to some druggy "talking" on a phone about getting his next lot of cannabis, brilliant. Sir Daniels is the place where everyone goes first due to the mega cheap drinks, inc me :)

I ment to say to you, nice one at The Furnace last week, was going to come and say Hi but didn't see you after you finished your set.

lol oh cheers! you shoulda said you'd be there! We were looking back at the video today and beating luke for his epic failure at the end :-/

I tryed some £1 ale the other day at the savoy.......I won't be trying it again ><

That Greene King IPA stuff? God that stuff is rancid, i bought a pint for the sake of it when the price announcement came out but never again!

Yeah that's the one, although I think they said they didn't have any so they gave me some other stuff (still a quid) that was just as, if not more horrible.

Decided to give it a go for a quid, "you can't lose!" I thought. You certainly can lose, and you certainly do get what you pay for.

The last time I went past a Wetherspoons pub, I was in Wakefield (!) and a bloke walked in front of me - his old chap in hand - and proceeded to pee on my friend and then the pavement. My friend took umbrage at this and fisticuffs ensued.

This was at 7.10pm btw :) First and last time I go to Wakefield!

The only reason I ever go to spoons is because it attracts all the 18 years old totty around here and it makes for an interesting evening. Then it is off to somewhere else for people my own age :p

Only a few places in my town are over 18, most are over 21.

That was my thought process, ended up leaving half of it. They also do San Miguel bottles for 99p though, which is excellent.

Sadly my local one (Henley) doesn't follow the national pricing structure, so although cheap, its not 99p.

Weatherspoon pub can sell the drinks so cheap as they buy the stock which is nearing it's best before date...... hence the savings.
