Behind you... Naked!
OMFG Im in love with this game... I have just completed a marathon non-stop run through all of the races ( With stops between each race of course, but the game itself was non stop )

The thing is, that when I played as Tau, in only the second level, I went to the Necrons... I failed to keep my leader alive and I normally wouldnt mind, but I had not even managed to get any further than the first control point FFS!

The second time round, I kept him back, to take on the protection of the base and got some soldiers to look after the first base, but again, I lasted about 10 minutes before being wiped out????

Now, I thought stuff that, and I avoided them but I still hadto face them later on... By this time, I had a better army and was able to start with better gear but guess what? - I got my arse panned again!

I dont have much skill I with the Tau I will admit and I am on Hardest setting, but I was able to get through this level with any other race I play, so why are the tau so hard for me? - well *** Eldar Im not too hot at either, but by a miracle I never needed to do this level against the necrons when I played as them.

Does anyone have any tips for me?

Heh you just made me reinstall the whole lot :p I never played the Tau, just know they are quite weak if you get in an melee with them. Just need masses of ranged troops of different kinds and you obliterate everything. Especially those big missile tank things!

Yeah, they can be ( As all races I suppose ) very powerfull if you amass enough of various kinds of troops, its just that on this particular level, you just dont get the chance to aquire enough of anything before you get obliterated... Even on EASY it can catch you out.

get your commander the jetpack upgrade

build a devilfish troop transport (stealth). put your commander in it.

send the transport to the area where you need to plant the bomb.

plant said bomb, the area is unguarded.

get him back into transport.

RUN

tau are best defencive race, get like five squads of XV-15 stealths, give them a shas'ui leader, stop the flayed ones killing your commander (stealth him as well ideally), and when thats done defend the hill to the left with couple squads of XV-88 broadsides and a squad of firewarriors, when it comes to attacking use firewarriors and XV-8 crisis suits, also hammerhead gunships are really good against necrons. also get an ethereal ASAP, he gives you the ability to make firewarrior bodyguards, there mint :) good luck

I find the tau easiest to use.

Kroot to tangle up the enemy and firewarriors to snipe them out. This is for early on, anyway.

After that it's better, i find, to take the kroot path rather then the tau one as it has more units available.

Also, upgrading your commander and using him at long range can be very effective in conjunction with kroot.

Also^ When you have the ethereal and a group of bodyguards ready, press deleteo on a firewarrior squad and replace them with bodyguards!

there mint

Mint?

Mint???

PMPL!!!:D

Great, top, sorted... Mad for it Laarr!

Ergonomics - Ok cheers dude. I will give that a shot... I have indeed tried just sending the commander with a small pack in other races, but not had the chance yet in Tau

Crofty

Sorry guy... I didnt see your post earlier on... I must have taken too long to post mine and I probably closed the window when I did post it?

Yes, I myself have hated the awfully slow Necrons, but the other day when I had to play them through the game, I had somehow managed to get half way through the game before I actually cottoned on to how you build up the listening posts???

I thought it seemed a little too slow FFS

But amassing an army with those buggers and they are unstoppable...

Tau and Eldar however, dont really work for me.

Anyway, you lot seem to be comfortable with them... I just need to give them more time.

Thanks all..

yeah there mint, your ******* yourself laughing at mint, you must be really bored...

Got nothing to do with being bored.

I got 3 kids ( 10, 10 & 9 ) and they are coming up with all kinds of silly phrases every day and its so cute and sweet... My daughter recently started saying mint.

Its not just that one word, because only the last few days we have been on about such things...

Like the welsh ghost... Boohooo...Isnt it?

Or the scouse ghost ... Wooooooooo Laar!

And Jessica showed me some game cards kind of like yugioh orwhatever and she said they're mint

Its just cracking me up when you said it too!

One small thing thats kind of the tip of the iceberg mate thats all.

Oh, and it is not THERE MINT, its THEY'RE MINT

lol :) well im from jarrow (near newcastle) so a ton of people up here say mint and stuff, and i know, i always got wrong of my english lecturer in college for saying 'there' instead of 'they're', always forget im refering to something rather than somewhere :p

a ton of people

Now, you're going around weighing people now???

always forget im refering to something rather than somewhere :p

It's a common one too!
Its so common that its often overlooked, and not corrected.

The biggest one I hate that people do, is TO TOO and TWO

All completely differently spelled and all have completely different meanings and if pronounced correctly they should all sound differently too!

So, why people spell it wrong is beyond me.

My own personal problem, is that whilst typing down things quickly, I often the NG mixed up with GN ( Check out any of my previous posts and you will probably find such errors )

So, I cannot possibly judge others' grammar when my own is so diabolical

dunno, your grammar seems pretty sound (another mad word), anyone feel that tremor this morning? even felt it here (like 100 miles north of yorkshire or something)

Yeah, sorry about the tremor...

It was the wifes birthday, so... Well... What can I say?

LOL

---

Seriously though... I remember ... Was it the early 70's when we had the tremor - I ran out the house naked with my pet cat and monkey in my arms.

That one terrified me cos the windows were the old metal jobs and they made a hell of a noise... I thought the house was coming down!

was barely noticable here, but still something that doesn't happen everyday and my sisters dog was acting all strange just before it happened and stuff, which is strange, like animals know...

Tau have the best starting troops EVER!
their lvl 1 scout things with the cloaking upgrade RULE! then give em some anti tank guns and they rip everything a new one!

The Stealth Suits are pretty pants really until you give them the upgrades. As Tau you want Drone Harbringers :)

Computer spends all its time shooting the drones while your men shoot their troops.
