Looking for a new monitor to partner up with my 290X. Ideally I want a 1440p 144Hz monitor with a decent Freesync range.

I use my monitor for both work (typing/browsing), games, videos etc so would love a great allrounder. Games I play are things like CS:GO, Witcher 3, Battlefield 4 and so on.

I don't know if it matters, but I am quite sensitive to stutter/lag and get headaches if I look at a suttering or laggy game for too long. I also have trouble looking at bright screens so I often have to turn the brightness and sometimes contrast quite low.

Thanks! :)

Thanks for the suggestions. Oddly, I have been considering them both! I'm leaning towards the Acer XF270HU at the moment but I can't find any reviews of it, which I assume is because it has not been released for long. The quality control of Acer monitors put me off a little though.

The BenQ on the other hand does look nice but compared to the Acer it does not offer a IPS screen. I've never had a IPS screen though, so maybe I don't even know what I'm missing, if anything?

In games like CS:GO, would a 4ms IPS cause any noticeable ghosting etc vs a 1ms TN?

Thanks

IPS panels are just miles ahead in terms of contrast and colour in most cases, but if you are really serious about competitive fps gaming then a TN would serve you better. For most people a fast IPS panel like the Acer wouldn't hold you back though.

I don't necessarily play competitively, though I do admittedly try to win whenever I play games like CS:GO. I would hate the thought that the monitor was holding me back. I think I will give a IPS, like the Acer, a try. Worse case scenario is that I'll have to DSR it.

Surely the 1ms v 4ms response time can't have a massive difference?

Thanks for all your posts :)

Nah, I play csgo with a 60hz Dell IPS that is really slow and tbh I've never felt like my monitor was holding me back. I'm slow enough myself! 4ms is a very respectable response time and I would always go IPS given the choice now. I would only consider a TN panel these days if I was going to enter the pro circuit, and I would have a popsicle's chance in hell of doing that.

See my sig, runs great, but I've never seen an equivalent IPS model in the flesh (so no idea how much black light bleed is typically present from seeing IPS in action).

I bit the bullet and went for the Acer XF270HU. It felt painful hitting the checkout button. I'll have to ban myself from ordering any more PC components for a few months. :D

Still not 100% sure if I wanted a IPS or TN monitor but with a bit of luck it will be worth it.

Thank you all for your help :)

I was under the impression tha the XF270HU is literally just the XG270HU renamed because the F makes far more sense than the G... could be wrong!

As far as I know the only difference between the two is that the XG270HU is a TN screen while the XF270HU is a IPS. Other than that, I *think* they are identical :)
