I'm currently looking for a new 2.1 system for Uni in September

dont really have a budget, im just looking for a lot of bass and great sound quality

The Aego M's did me well through uni, a good balance of bass and quality. However, for pure thumping bass and volume, maybe the Logitech z-2300s?

Just buy seperates, second hand amp and speakers. A half decent amp and some good floorstanders will set you back around £150. Will kick the crap out of any pc setup

Even my Cambridge A1 and Mission M71 bookshelf speakers destroyed my mates Z5500 setup (and my Megaworks 5.1) I sold my A1 for £20 and speakers for £50

I would agree with you, having moved from the Aego M to some Mission M72's, but at uni you don't always have the space!

Yeah, I have the Z-2300's and they quite amazing - had mine for around 6 years now and they've been great since new. You'll be suprised on the amount of bass they produce.

I thought my creative megaworks 550 were good and gave decent bass...until my mate got some floorstanders for £80 from richer sounds, a cambridge A1 and a sub. Quite literally the sub would shake stuff off my wall

well i wouldnt mind what i get. PC system or amp and speakers. just aslong as i cause use my computer and xbox with them easily

I imagine it would, what was the total cost? how much space do they take up?

These are quite simple and sophisticated at the same time for people who want bass and not earth shaking sounds :D - anyway that would probably get him a lot of bad faction with his flat mates. :p

oh no it wont, i've spoken to two of my future flatmates and they have just baught some new speakers so i think some bass wars are on the cards

i suppose i wouldnt want to spend over £150.

No space requirements, ide find somewhere for them

Ebay, budget -

Amp £50, Speakers £90, Cables £10

You could get a good pair of floorstanders and a good amp for those prices. Look for bargains, i got my B&Ws for £90. My Marantz amp was £55 from a cash converters type place and a tenner is enough for reasonable speaker wire and a phono - 3.5mm connection.

You can add a sub later if you want

edit - you can get something like what i have for your budget if you look for bargains

What a wast. them speaker are meant to be free standing not boxed in next to a wall. they'll never sound there best there.

You are right, but a lot of the time i move them to the front room (just out my door) Takes just a minute to pickup and move. I can't make my room bigger anyway

I would agree with getting a seperate amp and speakers. Been using PC speakers of years until i managed to get a Cambridge Audio A1 amp for £30 and a pair of Acoustic solutions powerforce 2000's for £20 with speaker cable included and they sound so much better. So for just £50 i got myself a half decent set up. I know its not the best but works great

The A1 is a fantastic amp for the price. Gutted i sold mine really

Yeah im really liking it at the minute. Got it for a great price too. It is a little under powered for my speakers but have not had it past a quarter on the volume and is very loud.
