Hi there what single card would you recommend for eyefinity?

I'm looking second hand and I think the 6990 wins out here as they seem to be going ~£160-180.

One thing i found with eyefinity was a single 7970 performed slightly better than 6970 xfire but second hand prices for a 7970 look to start at about £200

The 6990 is a dual GPU card. Why do you need a single card? Physical constraints?

It also is extremely hot and noisy. There's much better options IMO.

NV surround is another option ofc but their cards always seem more expensive. I currently have a 480 though, a second one would be cheap to buy but then with only 1536mb vram I'll be limited, I think.

You may in some games but you'll also be GPU limited as well so you'll need to drop some settings.

You need 2GB minimum for triple screen so the 6990 will be better as it's 2GB per GPU.

Anyone selling any of the cards I'm talking about check my MM thread, also after 2 identical monitiors :)

So far it is looking like:

Price Low to High
Second Gtx 480+block - £110
6990+block - £200-220
7970+block - £250

Performance is the reverse of that so I just need to work out if it's worth it.

I had eyefinity on a single 5870 before, love it and it hammered MW2 at the time.

Anyone out there got SLI 480s in NV surround?

I had SLI 680's with Surround hence my comment above. The VRAM side of it depends ENTIRELY on the games you play as to whether it'll be a problem.

Unfortunately there just isn't much info out there on different set up's with triple screen so it's up to you to make a choice and then post about it so others can learn.

That's what I did :).
