Firefox (with addons such as adblock (and its subscriptions), no script, flashblock, cslite, greesemonkey).
A good playlist orientated music player such as Foobar (and use Songbird in Ubuntu).
VLC
Thunderbird
uTorrent
 
FIREFOX is a given.... no need to include it (or Photoshop etc) see post 1 ;)
