What £50 drive to get?

the samsung spinpoints are suppose to be the quietest drives around, but im not sure about the seek times. the seagates 7200.11s might be good but im unsure about the noise and is it a lottery as with the .10s.

At the present time 7200rpm HDDs have access times of around 13-15ms, if this is a priority, look at a Raptor 36/74GB, which does have a 5 year warranty, but a bit over your budget, otherwise have a look the 250 Seagate 7200.10 (ST3250410AS) which have a 5year warranty. :)

I'd go with Western Digital too...had a couple in the last two years and have been very quiet.

This new 250GB Seagate 7200.10 is very quiet, it is the new 250GB platter version...have 2 of these myself, even when being worked hard they are almost inaudible. :)

Thing is though, the 250GB drives are only about £20 less than a 500GB, so increase your budget by £15 and you get double the space :)
