Just about to buy my PC and still pondering on the GPU. I am deciding on either a HIS HD 7850 IceQ X 2GB or a Sapphire HD 7850 2GB. Both are on offer this week, the HIS card being £5 more.

If it helps, I will be purchasing an i3 2100 and a Z77 motherboard.

Thanks.

Not much in it to be honest. Both have 2 year warranty which aren't as good as the likes of EVGA or Gigabyte (but thankfully OcUK will allow you to return it to them for the full two years). The Sapphire's dual fan cooler looks like a good one so might allow you to push your overclocks a bit further...plus it's a wee bit cheaper.

+ 1 for the Sapphire, lovely cool and quiet card. First ATI for years, they've done a great job with these, sub £200 2GB VRAM, cool quiet, good overclocker. Very good price/perf not far off a 7870 apparently.

From the msi, sapphire, gigabyte and his, which is the quietest (and most efficient) cooling solution?

I'm guessing its a fight between gigabyte windforce and msi twin frozr?

Its funny reading gigabyte products description :

The special inclined dual fan design effectively minimizes the flow of turbulence between two fans and enhances heat dissipation of hot area right underneath each fan. By unique design, WINDFORCETM 2X even enlarges air channel on the graphics card vents and creates a more effective air flow system in chassis. This special design helps heat dissipate quickly from GPU. In addition, WINDFORCETM 2X is equipped with 2 copper heat-pipes which strengthen the speed of heat dissipation.

Whereas msi is pretty much straight up -

Propeller Blade on Twin Frozr III
- The special blade design generates 20% more airflow than traditional design.
- 10C cooler & 13.7dB quieter than reference design!!!

When will all manufacturer start stating noise levels @ a particular fan speed, would prefer three readings tbh, one at slow/medium n fast.

Maybe I'm just being too pedantic, but I'm sure silence creates more sales. I hope you're taking note gigabyte, sapphire etc.

Cooling solutions on a card won't amount to much if your case does not have adequate ventilation. All the coolers on the cards mentioned are decent and quiet.

Thanks for all of the replies, obviously a silent PC is better than a noisy one but as long as the PC is quiet enough silence will be the last thing on my list.
