What 7970 model?

So I'm looking to upgrade my rig with a 7970 but I'm not sure what card is recommended or best value for money, sub £400.

I will be overclocking, btw.

I've been looking at these:

Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X

Asus HD 7970 DirectCU II

HIS HD 7970 IceQ X2

or would I be better off with a 7950?

Which I assume would be one of these:

Asus HD 7950 DirectCU II

MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III

HIS HD 7950 IceQ X² BOOST

Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X

I would appreciate any input!

EDIT: oh and feel free to ignore special weekly deals or anything, cus I won't be buying immediately.

Definitely the HIS cards, they seem on average the best to achieve higher overclocks with. I've got the Sapphire card and it will do 1200/1600 but can get pretty loud and warm.

I'd go with the Vapor-X. I've found it to have the best cooler (though I haven't had an ASUS one).
I found the Lightning to be kinda loud.

For serious overclocking

Unfortunately it is also a bit pricey and the connectors could be better.

Even with the free stuff it's that initial £420 outlay I'm just not willing to go with at the moment. And I assume that would get maybe an extra 50Mhz or something? Not sure it's worth that much to me personally.

He wouldn't get £60 for the free stuff, also you get free stuff with the HIS card lol...

I'd actually go for this one whilst on offer:

What's the difference between that and the Ghz edition in terms of overclockability? Can you overclock this one to the same as the Ghz edition?

Basically the Ghz edition just comes with stock higher clocks and maybe they are binned for better overclockability, this is probably impossible to know though.

I'd imagine the standard one will still overclock very well, with any card though it is purely silicon lottery. Just realised the Ghz edition doesn't include the mega bundle of games but the standard version does.

He did state sub 400 in the OP.

^^ Yea but with the free stuff he could sell it on and get the card cheaper than the his one lol

I only mentioned it as he said overclocking in the OP and the lightning is the best of them for ocing. I was just making him aware of the card but yes for everyday use there are cards that are just as good.
