I cannot believe what happen to my virgin media broadband - it been really slow as a dial up all day, all night, overnight with a shocking speed here:



What is going on at Telford cable broadband ?
 
Yeah, VM have seriously messed up. My internet has been completely knackerd for over a month now. They couldn't care less.

What package you on btw? I'm on 20Mb.
 
Have you posted in the VM Forums, some good feedback in there.

They get you to post your cable modem stats, and can tell what the issue is...

Call them up, tell them that you'd like to have your connection moved to a less busy server

Had this problem once in about 8 years with cable, they sorted it within minutes
 
Latest: I had rang up and complaint as VM will refund me 30% of bill next month for the dial up speed of broadband in my area. They say there is outright problem in some area of Telford due to error at their end of maintenance work yesterday (for new uploads upgrade) and they are trying to fixed it within 24-48 hours. They are working into this. Not very happy at all. I had to use my backup ADSL for now.

I've been with VM/NTL for over 8 years and never really had a problem with connection speed, I've been having trouble lately with DNS but dont think that is down to VM but I get solid 50mb/s down and about 1.5mb/s up 24/7
 
Problems with DNS? Are you using VMs DNS servers?
DNS has nothing to do with bandwidth :).

A domain name server is basically just for pointing a domain name to the right IP address. Has nothing to do with how fast your connection is once it's done its business.
 
Not sure why people post on here before at least contacting VM first.

This phone them up and see, usually it some bigger problem with your road/area. Sometimes your teh first one to notice and you'll get it fixed faster..

Mine was down for about 20mins today due to roadworks, but still happy with them
