What a complete muppet

Its no different than all those other idiots that start their cars on a winters morning and leave it to warm up while they sit inside drinking their tea!
I know what you mean, I used to feel on edge when I came out of work late at night and started the engine while I was de-icing the outside. Couldn't imagine leaving it unsupervised like that.

doubt the insurance would cover it, good job he got the car back cause otherwise he would have serious problems sorting that out with the insurance, doubt they would pay tbh.

Insurance will not cover the cash. Its quite easily done if you live in a quite little village. I have left my car with the top down to pop into the shops several times. Ok its not quite as bad but still.

And as to carrying around a grand More people do it then you think.

What an utter utter plank. At least he had the sense to install a tracker.

I lock my car at all times and whack a chain around the steering wheel when I'm going to be away from it for more than an hour. I even take my HU face with me into shops

well, i paid for me and the mrs holiday in cash (similar figure). Had the money, and didnt see the need to pay the 2.5% card fee.

didn't let it out of my sight tho tbh...

Just been reading that post and then came on here to see paradigm had linked to it, im still staggered by it. How can you get out of the car and leave the keys, my brain just wouldnt allow it, its like a built in thing like putting on a seatbelt. Imagine if the car had not of got recovered they would never pay out and he would be over 10 grand down. Dear god

In that case I'll take my blanket back and purchase a large boulder from you to crawl under. :)

:D

It's not something I would do, althought I did leave my car on the drive for 2 hours with the doors open while in my house (this wasn't with my LCR, but an old Orion)

I bet the car thief couldn't believe his luck when he found the cash. He probably ditched the car because it's a bit easier to trace than a grand in unmarked notes. Right result for him really. Feel sorry for the guy but he should have known better.
