Bit of a rant really about how much of a moron one of my mates is, he really can be a decent bloke, but sometimes you just wanna hit him.

basically last night, myself, Ryan and Barry were meant to be going out to a few pubs clubs and generally having a good night out. I was told to leave my car behind as we would be getting a lift into where we were going and be getting a taxi home.

I arrive at Ryans at the agreed time, to see Barry's car on the drive. Was a bit concerend as he was meant to be meeting us in Truro. Anyway Ryan lets me in and says that we are running late as we are waiting for Nigel to come and fix Barry's car, Barry was going to take us into Truro, fine I think. Basically the fan belt on his car had snaped which meant he could turn the alternater whichmeans the battery would go flat. Anyway we wait ages for Nigel to turn up, wh eventually after some chasing he does. As you can imagine at 9pm at night it's hardly the right time to be repairing cars, but Barry being Barry loves his car (It's a 306 GTI 6 in quite shocking condition, it's had 3 engines already) Nigel can't do it because the fan belt Barry got was wrong, too long or something.

So to get Barry home, Ryan lends him his battery out of his own 306 GTI 6, to which I would bring it back to him after work today. We got Barry's car running and instead of going home, he went out, had lots to drink, drove home and wrote his car off, leaving Ryan with a car he can't use, he's got family FFS and can;t be without his car, so where is the battery ? In the police impound in Barry's car. Basically I work with Barry and he's known to be a bit of a boy racer. Well he is a boy racer.

Anyway my point I guess is that you try and help someone and literally bend over backwards and see what the silly runt went and did ? Never again thats for sure.

What annoys me is I offered to take Barry home in my car, he's even a member of the RAC, which was even more annoying as he could have called them out and had them sort it.

From what I understand his car is a write off, he went down the A30, a tyre burst and he ended up in the central reservation, he spent the night in the police cells and didn'tcome to work today. If he over the limit and I'm sure he was he's almost certainly lost his licsence ??

Anyway not really best pleased with him at the moment, glad he's not hurt or anything but just annoyed that he's caused another mate serious problems.

Anyway rant over.

I intend to smack him hard when I see him, and make him cough up for a new car battery for Ryan.

I've got a feeling he'll lose his job also as he lives miles away from where he works, he can only get there by car. Oh and he's got 3 points on his licsence already.

Oh and thanks Gilly :)

Well I found out how much he'd had to drink, in his words "Oh not that much really, about 3 pints of lager and 1 JD and coke"

What wound me up even more is that the little scum bag basically lied to the old bill by telling them that he wasn't driving, but some guy called Chris was as he was too drunk to drive, but Chris got out the car and made a run for it.

His hearing is on the 3rd of November.

BTW who wanted the spares ? The car is red :)

Did I read the OPs post correctly? The guy has been through three engines already? What the heck is he doing?

It's clear to me that the guy could barely drive whilst sober, least of all whilst UTI.

Thats right, it was on it's thrid engine, the first one blew because the cam belt needed doing, the second one died also because he got it put in cheap and the origin of the engine was rather suspect to begin with. He has hit the thing numerous times, ran into the back of someone not long after the third engine went in. his driving scared me whitless when he was taking me home, never in my life have I been so scared in my life. He never once stopped at a junction to look or give way, he just drove straight through.

I totally frgot about this thread, but thought you'd all like to know that Barry got away with it !! We are all rather surprised and felt he deserveda 12 month ban !!

Basically he told the law that there was someone else drivng the car, gave them a false name and discription, nobody saw him driving the car and nobody else was hurt in the accident. He wasn't on the A30 as such, but just about to get on it, he was coming from Camborne and joining the A30, if you've been there recently and don't see a lamp post, thats the one he hit.

Is Barry still alive, or has he killed himself yet?

Indeed he is, not a mark on him afer he totalled the car.

Has he learnt his lesson ? No I don't think so, to replace his GTI 6 he's gone and gotten the money together for a Honda Civic Type R, nice car, but a bitliked a loaded gun in the small hands of a child. Thought he would have stuck with his 306 1.4 for another year at least before buying something really fast again.
