What a rubbish World Cup so far

Just noticed that if Germany beat Ghana and Serbia draw or beat Australia then it's pretty certain that no African teams will go through from the groups which is a bit of a shame for the WC held in Africa.

Would be fun if Ghana and Serbia won though - byesybye Germans :p
 
AFrican teams really aren't good enough, you only need to look at who African nations play, the worst thing is most of them have basically no history whatsoever in playing teams outside of the African nations, most of the teams have stuffed in a few friendlies since the ACN in Jan but before then some haven't played Euro/American/Asian teams in years.

In the friendlies there was barely a single good result amongst any of them, someone drew with Italy, who haven't won in ages, thats about it, losing most games to the worse Euro/Asian teams isn't a positive review of their abilities.

Theres no reason a home nation has to be good or get through to latter rounds, its good its somewhere very different, and the Korea/Japan world cup was great aswell.

Hopefully though this ends up being good experience for the African teams and in the next several years they'll become a lot stronger and play a LOT more friendlies with teams from other continents, which will again improve them as teams.
 
Are people forgetting or just not old enough to remember the group stages of Italia 90?

Some of the most boring matches ever witnessed.
 
The WC has got better in the past week or so...teams have been opening up because unlike the first games...they didnt want to lose or played for a draw if they could.

Todays games were pretty good...well the Paraguay match was dull but was watching because i had a lot of money riding on it...should have really watched the Italy game as that seemed pretty decent from the comments ive been reading.

France and Italy 2 of the supposed better teams are out now so should make things interesting in the 2nd round ie the last 16.
 
have too say one of the poorest world cup so far ,special from all the big favourite teams,using the ball as excuse for pros even make them look poorer,messi only player that stands out and nice too watch him play,maybe aunder dog to win WC might wake up these so called favourites
 
Personally think its picked up a lot. Probably due to my brain being able to filter out the vuvuzelas more and more.

However it's still the first world cup where I haven't wanted to watch the majority of games - either Im getting old, or the football is dull.
 
i agree the first week was terrible, but has certainly picked a lot at the end of the 2nd week, some great matches and some great suprises!!
 
I can't remember which game it was, but in the last couple of days there was a game where all the Vuvuzela's were blowing, stoppoing, blowing, stopping, so the noise was kind of pulsating. It sounded awesome.

Yep i noticed that in one of yesterdays game...think it was the Dutch game or was it the Paraguay game....bloody annoying lol
 
The 2 biggest things ruining the world cup for me is all the diving giving soccer a very very bad name and the **** refs, will they please learn to ref and please be damn consistent about it! :mad:
