Bought a 7900XTX for £900 after waiting 2 years after covid. Turns out its not enough for some of the games I play. Upgrade options are £2000 for a 4090 or nothing. Get me in another universe please!

In what world is a 7900XTX not able to run a game sufficiently?
Stop playing at 8K, you pressed forward too many times on the time machine.
I take it you're trying to game at 4K with full ray tracing options turned on ? If so, NVIDIA is your only choice, I'm afraid. There will be plenty used 4080/4090 cards on the market when the RTX 5000 series launches in Q1 next year.
Might be worth changing your cyrix cpu

It can't max Res Evil 4, and can't run Star Citizen at 4k but that is nowhere near optimised yet.

Try FSR? I run DLSS for games my 4080 struggled and it's fine you cannot, and I repeat CANNOT notice the difference

Resident evil 4? the XTX should be getting great frames even at 4k max settings

RE4 max settings at 4k should be ~100fps according to TPU.

Hmm, ok I'll have another look not played it for ages but Its fine if I use the fsr or whatever but it tanked when I set everything to max (no shortcuts).
