What a waste!

Wow, i agree that was a waste, i feel it would also be a waste to stick it on the road, it should now be stuck in a collection for all to see.

Terrible shame. What sort of effect would 20 years of standing still have on its running gear?

It depends really but I would imagine it has been maintained during the storrage, most cars like this are stored and maintained properly but it was sent back to Porsche and re-lifed, which would probably have been an engine out and everything off then back on again so I suspect it will be perfect.

what porsche is it? (piston heads is blocked here)

IF I ever own something expensive and special, it'll get stone chips, abuse and importantly get hammered daily.

I thought the other day about coming into some money and I decided that I'd still keep the CTR regardless. I love it and something 'special' would probably be wasted on me.

a) Buy something nice
b) Use the vast amounts of newfound cash to get the damage fixed every 2 months
c) ???
d) profit

Blimey what a find. I know that dealership quite well and if anyone is in the area it is well worth a visit as they have all sorts of rare exotica normally, like £500K Astons and the like. Not surprised they have this 911 either, it is exactly their sort of market.

As to why one would buy such a great car and never drive it? Well I'll tell you a little story about the cars that go through that dealership. Many of the motors they have are rare, unusual and worth a fortune. They have a few customers who buy rare vehicles off them, get the delivered into storage and then sell them back to the dealership at a loss having never driven them. And then rebuy them back a year or so later paying Bramley's markup. And this cycles round ad-infenitum.

But why do this? Well the owner of the dealership was too discrete to divuldge anything further but one might summise it could be:

a) a collector with too much money
b) somone trying to look at the cars as an investment and failing badly
c) somone who needs to have large amounts of cash cycled through legitimate businesses

Now I should add that Bramley are doing nothing wrong and are completely legit and indeed the owner is a wonderful man, happy to show you round his showroom even if you're not buying, but he and I both knew which of those options fit the people buying cars like this 911 off him.

I doubt Bramley are in the money cleaning business, nor are people looking to clean it into the losing money on cars business.

A casino does the same job for 0 loss on those sorts of amounts of cash.

I doubt Bramley are in the money cleaning business

I should have been clearer, you are right they are absoloutely not. Every transaction they make goes thorugh the books all above board. It is simply that they have some buyers who year in, year out buy and sell back cars for huge amounts of cash losing money every time. They are merely happy to buy and resell the car as a legitimate business. They are doing nothing wrong.
