What a **** !!!!

They should raise the driving age anyway a lot of 17 year olds are far too immature and selfish to be behind the wheel. At school a LOT of people used to drink drive.

I was driving a 2.8i turbo'd MKII Granada* @ 17 and I'm still here.......

*Oh how I wish my dad hadn't sold that car - 280bhp is still a fair amount now, it was lunatic back then!

I know a few people who have been bought powerful cars at a young age (mostly 18). Always the fastest, most powerful spec as well. I'm thinking, why do they need the extra power? :/

Why do 30 year olds need the extra power? Or 40 year old? Or 50 year olds? I think the answer you're looking for is "because it's fun".

I don't know how old you are but you're defending younger drivers in fast cars and if there's one thing I can't stand it's arrogant teenagers claiming they are uber enough to drive 300/400bhp cars safely. Statistics suggest otherwise and if they could car insurance premiums would not be so high. Young drivers simply do not have the experience to appreciate the "fun" of more powerful engines. Personally I don't think it should be legal for anyone to step in an IG 15+ car until they have at least 2 years driving experience.

I like to think I'm a good driver but if my parents gave me an M3 I'm pretty sure I would eventually take a corner too quickly or perform a stupid overtake and write it off. Unless I was pulling onto a motorway and flooring it I simply do not have the experience to take advantage of the extra power it offers over, say, a 330i. For that matter, neither do any other 20 year olds unless they've been track driving on a regular basis for the last few years.

What I meant to say was, why do they need such power at an age where they're clearly not experienced enough to drive it 100% safely?

Of course, it will be fun, but it's someone young who has probably just passed their test. Hardly a good choice.
