Odd, I've only ever known people doing it in late September of Year 11.

Guess there's some variety across the country?

gawd that means i gotta work with her for a week :( and i'll have to take them out with me i always do lol.

they normally lazy and do nothing as well :(

You should be 16, after GCSE. 17 before uni. Then in subsequent internships going up to age 21.
The government thing if that's what you're referring to (which I never got) is in the 3rd year.

We did ours in the school year before GCSEs, the thinking being that in your GCSE year you are kinda preoccupied.

Can't remember what year that was or what age though.

I did mine in a school as I wanted to be a teacher. Loved it lots and actually went back in my school hols to help out (slightly different hols between schools.)

At about 19 I realised I hated kids and teaching would be a nightmare ;)

i got lucky with my work experience, my friends dad was working for HP and was going away to california for 2 weeks at the time for the work experience, so we went with him, so not only did we get free trips abroad but we got to sun it up in cali for an extended work experience :D pretty sure i was 15 at the time also

At my school it was the summer term of 4th year.
I didn't like it much at all, I think the teachers were a little stunned by my negativity in the exit interviews as they were expecting people to come back saying "actually it went better than I was expecting! So much more fun than school work!!". I said it was a waste of time and my time would have been better spent studying. I didn't actually get a job until 6.5 years later anyway. Was also a tad jealous about the fact that some people got gifts, money etc from their employer.
