On the other hand, I would have kept this quiet and not tell the world (specially in the forum that from the shop you bought it from) and return it under Long Distance Selling Regulation 2000 and have 7 days to inspect and return.

I don't know! I already have SATA drives and know the differance etc.... so it wasn't just ignorance i actually ordered them out of raw stupidity!
 
Take it the actual hard drive packaging has been opened? usually have to pay a restocking fee when I send stuff back though works supplier.

Firstly, don't post about it.

Secondly, take it the local chinsese takeaway shop and tell them you didn't order this and you ordered SATA and rice not PATA and rice.. They'll not know the difference.
 
Under the distance selling act you can return any item you change your mind about, within 5 or 7 days, for a full refund.

So, do that.
