Decided to also try Kaspersky today, as I got a special deal on it.
NOD32 is certainly quicker and uses much less resources than K. NOD32 would take around 20 minutes for my machine, but K has already taken 2.5 hours with another 1.5.hours to go.
However, it has scanned over 1.1 million "objects" and detected 2 viruses - which NOD32 may have missed (on a drive which I don't always scan on a daily basis).
Been using NOD32 for years now. Use ZA Pro for my firewall, simply because I am nosey about what proggies want Internet access, otherwise I would use XP's own firewall.
As stated a AV is only as good as it's virus definitions!!
What you want too look for in a good AV is one that has the largest and most comprehensive virus definitions and a decent virus like action detector, it should also do all this using the least amount of system resources.
For me it was a close fight between NOD32 and Nortons Corp. but after using both on over a dozen box's I found that Nortons gave the best protection and considering both used pretty much the same amount of system resources and similar memory footprints I opted for Nortons Corp.
Have been using Nortons Corp for a good few years now and have NEVER been infected which is pretty amazing considering the amount of dodgy infected sites I visit
