What are 3 like as a mobile network?

Oh i they did that to me on the 9th or 10th month, happened to a few of us on the dtt1400 tarrif, i soon sorted it tho, they claimed the n70 wasnt a refurb, when it was. they refunded me £90 for overcharging me by £30

did they actually refund you?

my wife got a text this morning saying it would be corrected and credited to her account - not much good with only 7 weeks of the contract left before we ditch these con men

Yes they credited my bill with £90 for overcharging me £30, which i was happy with, this happened 9 or 10 months into my contract though out of 18 but as you say if your contract ends in a month, its not good.

I have been with 3 for 4 years now and can honestly say ive not had any problems with them.

Any network can have reception problems if you are in the wrong area with them.

Ok the call center is in india but again anytime ive had to call them its been fairly painless. I have tons of problems before with Orange and O2

I have been with 3 for about 3 years never had a probelm with them and the signal has always been ok. you can check their website www.three.co.uk for what coverage your area has

I have had the worse customer service ever from Three and I am an NTL customer as well! They even trump them for poor service. Took receipt of my phone on the 20th of the month which was delivered via a telesales order. The phone was not active. I phoned 3, was told 72 hours MAXIMUM to sort, but it really wont be that long. Well, thought I, this is annoying, as long as its on in a few days, I can put up with it. Two days pass, no call back and phone still not active, I call back, will still be 72 hours. Next days comes, 72 hours from when I reported it, still not working, but we will sort it in 24 hours and call you back to confirm. 24 hours later, no call back, no working phone. And the next day, and the next and next and so on. I gave up and got a contract from a shop, phone was active by the time I got it home.

Finally after two weeks, the phone is active, I am now awaiting my Jiffy bag to send it back.

Ive been with 3 a while now... reception has always been fantastic, the main problem is their god-awful Bangladeshi (or wherever) customer service, it's a complete joke. Im defecting to Orange or o2 SIM-only in early Feb. Only thing i'll miss will be the awesome £5/m internet package, which is almost worth putting up with the crap CS for.

So from the comments so far:-

1. Reception and value for money excellent
2. Customer service absolute ********!

Once O2 release the new black N95 8GB, i'll give them a ring and see what they can do for me. I don't want to pay more than 30 quid a month for it.

If they can't then 3 mobile don't sound too bad. I very rarely ever have to phone customer services so that should hopefully not be a problem for me.

The reasons you give are ridiculous!

3 may not have the best customer services department, but your CHEAP everyday calls, internet etc are exactly that EVERYDAY. Customer services you contact when something is wrong and in my experience, it is often the users fault for not reading manuals or checking the web for the answers. In fact, most problems with 3 or any other network can usually be anwered better on forums like this one.

People give in and bite their own noses off too quickly sometimes !!

3 are the most innovative network out there......praise where it is due please !

I was tempted to wait for O2 but the data packages will be absolutely awful. Took a chance with 3 this time so will wait to see how it turns out.

Customer service are a waste of space and my bedroom appears to be a deadspot, but no major complaints really.
Will probably stay with them when my contract expires in August, but might head for T-Mobile & Flext :)

Ive come the other way, was with t-mobile and flext and gone to three.

Web access on three is much much quicker with 3.5g speed and ive got excellent reception whereas reception was flaky on t-mobile and the internet speed was v.slow. Also had problems with mms messages not arriving, so far with three everything has been very good

X-Series was enabled on my account today (and the other data package removed) and I had a quick play with it.

Will have to agree with ScoobyDoo.

Web access feels quicker than with T-Mobile and my Vario II and reception has been excellent compared to the usual locations I used to access it with T-Mobile.

I've spoken to customer services 3 times already and every occasion so far the person I spoke to was polite throughout, easy to understand and able to resolve any issue I had.

So far so good.

Yeah they're[polite... but the more you speak to them the more you will want to strangle the politeness out of them, as they thank you for the millionth time while avoiding the question their either don't understand or can't deal with. When you have any problem of any seriousnes that goes even remotely out of their comfort zone (ie: cannot be read from a sheet) and you really need it resolving, THEN you will realise just how bad their customer service is. I'm talking from experience, i've been on the phone a lot with them lately.

However having said that, if they did a SIM-only monthly package I would stay with them, however I called today and despite being told "yes we do SIM-only on a monthly contract i'll just pass you through to our upgrades team" I was then told that under no circumstance would they do any form of upgrade without having to purchase a new phone. The nice man then tried to convine me that the Nokia 9500 slider was better than my N82, and I wept inwardly.

Three are good been with them over a year now, coverage here is great. I've had X series for over a year too and I can't live without it is bloody great. Other mobile providers really did shoot themselves in the foot, namely orange. No flat rate unlimited mobile internet data deals... but oh they will give you an internet connection for the home... what was the point in that from a mobile phone company?

Coverage for me is good for three you will have to check it though, but again you have 14days to decide if you like the phone and service.. 14days should give you enough time to decide that. On the subject of coverage if you are somewhere that has bad three coverage the phone will switch to an orange transponder, there is some partnership going on with three and orange. So the likelihood you will have zero signal is quite low... unless u live on a mountain and are living with the mountain goats.

I’ve been with 3 for 3 years. Coverage was good only had the odd dropped signal. Call centre staff are very hard to understand.

I’ve just called them to give them one month’s notice that I do not wish to renew my contract with them. I was asked why and I said that I wanted the Nokia N82 as my next phone and as they didn’t have it I would go to another network provider.

He put me on hold then came back and offered me the N73 and told me it was the same phone as the N82. I told him no it’s not. The N82 replaces the N73, I just want to cancel my contract.

So that’s sorted I’m off to O2.

My sister left me an answer phone message and just noticed I got sent a text saying I have an answerphone message.

Don't you get the usual notification on the phone like with T-Mobile and other networks?

Ill be off to o2 very shortly too. On tariffs of 600mins or over you automatically get the ITS (International Traveller Service) enabled which automatically cuts call charges dramatically in every zone you go ot. Considering 3 hit me with a £100 set of call charges in the Isle of Man, costing me nearly £1/min, they really can kiss my arse.

You cant beat o2 for calls, the only part they lack in is data services, but this has to improve over the next year.

I was thinking along the same lines. Data services will improve over most networks. Then I'll just get the bolt on added. 3 didn't even offer me any deal to keep my custom. I may have gone for the N95 at the right price, but you pay £15 a month before you add any call tarrif. You do get 150 video minutes in that but who uses video calls?

I work in a factory and it's hard just to listen to a normal voice call. 3 do have the best data pacakage £5 for 1gig, just waiting for other networks now. This time next month I'll have a N82 on O2 bye bye 3;)
