I'm looking to get into storage via setting up a Synology NAS but I'm not sure what is good prices for drives. The last time I bought a 3.5" drive was like 2009 or something.

Does anyone have a quick cheat sheet so I know when something is a deal? Looking at CMR drives specifically.

Is £160 for 8 TB a good ballpark? So thus 16 TB should be about £280 or so? Maybe £300 if it's a 5 year warranty drive?

Thanks

This would be very difficult as we can't post links from anyone but OcUK. But I would say your figures are in the right ballpark.

I'd like to mention there's a very nice Synology NAS in the sales section at the moment.

Thanks Snap. That's understandable. Currently seeing Seagate Ironwolf 4 TB CMR for £72.74 so if I can get 8 TB for about £150 I know it's worth getting.

8TB has stayed the same for a while now. Best value was 18TB they were available for good price, compared to smaller drives. I think £250 on special, and considering other drives aren't much less in £ but far less TB ...not to bad
