and would it be better to have several 1tb or 2tb drives instead of a big one so there are more points of failure?? I read years ago that seagates were unreliable but im not sure thats the case anymore!
what are the best hard drives for reliability these days? need abotu 5tb of storage!

im not sure what backblaze is but good point about backup i guess i would normally just have any important data on two different drives in the pc and some stuff is on the cloud but i dont have a proper backup plan or anything
is raid a good idea in a normal computer for data safety do you think ? or just a normal drive system and some kind of subscription cloud thing ?
would mostly be inconvenient to be honest ha ha movies and games and things id need to re download from various places

my stuff is stored on six drives which are a mix of 250gb 320 and 500 at the moment ha ha most of them are old
want to pack it all down onto one or two drives in my new computer !

my system spec had a toschiba drive in it, i think that is the same as hitachi
