What are the go to JRPG games on PC?

I dont think tales of symphonia has aged too well. Maybe peoples love for it comes from a place of nostalgia? First impressions after about 30 minutes are the voices are just bad and the combat seems very basic, it doesnt even really explain it. Maybe a refund on this one

I never realised Grandia II was available on Steam. Really enjoyed it on the Dreamcast. Its predecessor even moreso on the Saturn.

JRPG tends to get use loosely these days, and these two games fit that, but I'd definitely check them out. Valkyria Chronicles somewhere between a JRPG and an SRPG. Child of Light has turn-based combat and plays like a traditional JRPG but doesn't have all the "normal" features of one. Both of them however are amazing games.

Valkyria Chronicles
Child of Light

I wouldn't call a lot of the games mentioned in here JRPGs, a roleplaying game made in Japan isn't necessarily in the JRPG genre. It's a style of game that could be made by people outside of Asia. Final Fantasy is a JRPG, would you compare it to Dark Souls? No, because you wouldn't call Dark Souls a JRPG. :D

Anyway, Last Remnant is quite good.

Thanks, had valkyria on ps3 and it was good but never got far into it, great suggestion but yea i think im after a final fantasy style game thats not final fantasy :D normal jrpg, need to try trails in the sky yet, will refund symphonia and try another instead
