the sidebar annoyed me! but the best gadget I saw was one from national rail which was a live timetable update and search. useful if you get a lot of trains like me
I use CPU usage, Network upload / download speeds, Hard Drive space, weather, temps (although I haven't got it working yet). There's a good site that has a load of them:
keep an eye out for some of the 3rd party ones for their cpu/memory usages. some are obscene. i had a hard drive usage monitor that was taking 250+mb of ram.
Mine, mostly self explanatory, bottom one is the vnc gadget which is a little buggy, each reboot you need to hit the question mark and click ok to reaffirm the already shown program path to vnc.
I turned my sidebar off, I'm hardly ever on the desktop, always have windows open, so there's not much point really. Save a little in resources too I guess.
