Out of all the cards I have owned from the 3xxx and 4xxx series the one card that stood head and shoulders above the rest was the ASU’s strix 3070.I believe the most advanced retail GPU that's passive (100% silent bar Coil Whine) is the Palit 3050 6GB. It won't run the latest graphics intensive stuff at 4K well, but anything else in between with adjusted settings and resolutions, it should be viable still. However, there are very few instances where the rest of your system rig is quiet enough where it warrants such a card over another card that has been undervolted or has a large cooler, etc. So getting a card like this really is only suitable for very specific build/goal instances.
Tbh I thought it was expensive as well ya know ASUs tax. But I think I got very lucky with the card rather than the whole generation being good.
I would almost say it was a golden sample card. It clocked stupidly well while running so cool in all the time I had it I never heard the fan once. It ran. I set the fan curve to run at 50c but after power limiting it to 70% it always ran at like 48/49c so it never span the fans. It used like 190 ish watts and it was so good I sold my 3070ti. I regret selling that card now as I miss the silence of it even though it would severely struggle in most modern games. But seeming as I only play League. It’s kinda moot.
Another card from the 4xxx series that seriously quiet is the ASU’s strix 4090. When I limited it to 70% it ran so cool and quiet. Although I find most 4080 and 4090 strix’s have cool whine. Msi suprim x is another quietist card but I have owned like 4 in total and they have always had cool whine to varying degrees. The first two were horrendous for cool whine. Then I bought one off lt. Matt and another off eBay they had cool whine but very very minimal.
