Been offered one of these at silly money looks pretty much like the one above, basically my MD has been offered stupid money as a px for one of these so he is offering it to his staff at <£7k.

Can anyone tell me what the running costs are like on something like this? Exc. petrol.

Also is there anything that goes wrong on these?

Thanks

What car do you have now? Spend much in running costs atm?

That does look like a bargin for under £7k. Definatly worth considering if its up your street.

Well...I drive an ST24...ok you may think that this is a fairly cheap run about, I spent around 2k last year to keep it on the road, and lucky enough this year it came in very cheap at £500 to get through MOT.

Petrol wise I am probabally seeing 19mpg, and only have a 20 mile round trip on a daily basis.

It has full service history and no expense is spared, he gets the wheels replaced at the dealer, and also even gets the dealer to fill up the washer bottle :o

It is a very well looked after car, my only concern is that I want to buy a house next year, and also a new car. However this is at a stupid price that I am really tempted to go for!

The words AMG scare me a bit though!!!

This is in another league to an ST24.

You are tempted by this because of its price, this is NOT a car you buy on price.

its a supercharged AMG merc.

dont let the 3.2 V6 fool you into thinking its not got the usual AMG merc running costs. Even the C32 came with 350bhp as standard. As fox says, this is on par (running costs wise) with an e46 m3.

Its just nobody raved much about it so it got a bit lost.

You need to be on decent money to run one, they are cripplingly expensive to run for your average joe.
Steer clear.

This is on Par with other similar cars performance wise. (M3, S4, RS4, even M5, RS6 etc)

Ask him to Show you all the reciepts for the car, make sure you're sitting down!

Servicing isnt too bad contrary to popular belief, worse than BMW's M3 and Audi RS cars, but not mega, it will need one every ~12k approx, i would guestimate from a fairly broad experience of Mercedes servicing prices that it will come in at approx £350 for oil, £550 ish for a minor then £800ish for a major.

20 mile round trip on a daily basis is around 4800 miles per year business, then say a few thousand personal and you do what, 8000 per year? Thats nothing and as a result i wouldn't say it will be too bad.

Put say £2-3000/pa aside for maintenance, tyres and servicing, then a gallon per day on fuel. I would say that i will be fairly accurate with those figures.
