What are you getting your wife/gf/bf/sibling/mother/father for christmas?

Thought I'd be an outlier just getting token gifts.
Looks like that's not the case

Yeah, my wife and I set a £50 limit years ago when we first got our proper jobs, and despite inflation we've stuck to it.

It all started because we realised that with earning proper incomes we could potentially spend hundreds, but also felt like that would be a really pointless situation to find ourselves in. Especially because, though I could find stuff fairly easily for her, she would need to have a list of specific URLs since I mainly bought videogames and hardware at that point and she'd have no idea what to get otherwise.

I've done various things with it, like getting all second-hand stuff one year, trying to spend £50 on the nose (managed £49.99), trying to get as many individual items within budget etc.

Personally I think it's a lot more fun this way.

I don't know how common it is for our friends though, I can't immediately think of any who have fixed budgets / agreements etc.

Buy "her" a 4090? ;)

We've been gently stepping it down for years now.

Same here. I think for kids yeah, but for adults, it's tricky to find something someone actually wants that they haven't bought already in this consumer world. Since DVDs and CDs etc all went to streaming services, it's become harder as well. So it tends to be alcohol and clothing.

Oh god not a clue

Mother - not sure yet - maybe a voucher for her to go see a show with her partner.
Sister - not sure yet but probably a gift set from Lush
Sisters partner - some book about spuds? Or Spudman? Tiktokers cook book.
Nephew - A toy or two as he's only 2 and half.
Dad - some fresh flowers and I'll visit his grave on xmas day.

Got my missus a Shark cordless hoover last xmas , she had the right hump for some reason , going to get her a new washing machine this year.

A pair of binoculars for watching the birds at the top of the garden! She's got two really old pairs that my dad gave her, sat on the kitchen window sill. Neither pair work great and one pair is about 70 years old. Also, following on from the purchase indecision thread, I've spent far too long researching the best ones.

£800 to a grand per kid!?! Alright Alan Sugar!

Wife and I decided to up our budget for each other this year, but we're at that stage in life there's nothing we need or want much. So it'll probably be fancy gin, chocolates and beauty stuff for her.
I might ask for a new Tamiya RC to add to the collection.
Ha! I wish! That was a one off for each. A PC set up from scratch is expensive.

Gold bracelet. Picked it up in a Black Friday sale at least and right at the end, so it had another discount on top. Was hoping to split the payment over a few months, but of course my impatient wife just goes and buys the thing. I’m a bit annoyed, especially since I have another big bill imminent, but it’s just money I guess.

We limit the materials goods simply because most of the time they just tale up room we don’t have. So the idea this year is perfume and a leather bag making course day. As it’s a big birthday for her it will be a trip somewhere. All to fit when calendars fit.

Main two presents are a perfume which is a knock off (ish), and a usb battery reading light, then just chocolate and some booze.

I spend about £100, actually possibly less maybe £80.

For the other half I went: Designer purse, stinky candles, and a makeup bag that I've seen her looking at a few times.

She got me the latest Google Pixel for my birthday earlier this year so went in heavy this Christmas.

My parents don't do Christmas anymore and don't want cards or presents.

My siblings and I haven't bought presents for each other since we all started having children. We all decided about 15 years ago that we wouldn't buy for each others kids, we'd just spend an extra £10 on our own kids.

This year my daughter will get £100 in gifts. My son is taking his driving test next month, so he will get either £100 cash towards a car, or gifts. My daughter is nearly 21 and my son is 17.

The only other person I'm buying for is my son's gf. They are both doing engineering apprenticeships, and she has asked for tools. So she'll get a wrench or something.
