What books are you people out there currently reading?

I'm just re-reading The Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix, currently on Lirael.

Great trilogy, aimed at teenagers so it's a very easy and fast book, but I love the story and wish he would write more :(

So let us all know what you're reading, and if it's any good

Let The Galaxy Burn - collection of Warhammer 40K short stories.

Nearly finished and the 6th book in the Horus Heresy story "Descent of Angels" will be next

:)

I'm currently about halfway through the seventh Dune book (Hunters of Dune), which is written by Frank Herberts son and Kevin Anderson.
It's quite good so far, but definately a different feel to it than the original 6 books.

I decided that this year I would reread/read all the Dune books, i'm to have to order the prequels soon:)

After that i've got Matter by Iain M Banks to read, and a load of Warhammer 40k books (I read most of the Gaunts' Ghosts books last year but still have some outstanding).

El Vergonzoso en palacio by Tirso de Molina.

Really enjoying this one and have nearly finished (will then start Catch 22). Its a play though.

I'm currently reading Monstrous Regiment - T. Pratchett, this is only the third pratchett novel I have read and so far I'm really enjoying it.

I'm guessing it's a fantasy series, would you reccomend them?

The next series I want to start is the The Belgariad series, and then after finishing I was thinking of starting Magician by Raymond E. Feist. I've had it for a while now, just haven't got round to starting it.

Do you mean Dune?
That's a Sci-fi series, and I would certainly recommend the Dune series (although it can be heavy going at times).

Ah yeah i meant Dune, sorry for not stating lol.
Never really read any sci-fi books at all really, may have a look at those though :)

Never read any of the Warhammer 40K fiction, but I have "Horus Rising" on my list of stuff to read this year.

Other than that I'm reading:
  • Diaries 1969-1979: The Python Years - Michael Palin
  • Code: The Hidden Language - Charles Petzold
  • Excession - Iain M. Banks

Just finished 1984 which was good.

Gonna go to Borders and grab a whole bunch of classic literature to read next though.

The Day Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko, just need to get my head into it as I only seem to settle down and read it when working nights.
