In the past I worked for a shop that used to Sell computer components and Software.

Now we sold OEM copies of windows XP, With Computers.

Now my boss, When anyone would ever come in to buy a copy of Windows XP on it's own, He would say, Buy this floppy drive for £5, And I'll sell you XP at OEM price. As it's being sold with Hardware.

What are your views on this?

Legit?

A Git?

Is it Illegal?

As long as it was an OEM version he sold then i don't see a problem, however, he should not be doing this with retail versions.

would be a very nice discount for the customer, if it was retail version sold for oem price.

It was definately just the OEM versions. So there is no problems with selling it along with a £5 floppy drive?

It's just a very interesting work around if so :p

I've bought a few copies of XP oem before and been sent a few crappy mice with them to get round that.

I've got an OEM system builders box on my desk now as it happens...

must be accompanied by: either a fully assembled computer system or a nonperipheral computer hardware component (that will be an integral part of the computer system on which the OS will be installed) blah blah

I think they relaxed the requirement to buy hardware with the OEM copies recently. The OEM version can only be installed on one computer where as the retail version is transferable to a new computer if you upgrade I think.
