What are your favourite Missions (Maps or Levels) from a Game?

First level of Vampire Bloodlines is pretty badass, lots of nice touches like hacking computers in the medical centre to discover a doctor having an affair and then blackmailing them, lol :) One level but a good mix of different environments (beach, carpark, streets, nightclub, sewers, warehouses etc)

How could I forget the police station level in Max Payne 2, start of act 2 I think, pure genius and a welcome touch of humour against the usual dark backdrop. I spent over an hour on that level, packed full of easter eggs, most of which are jibes at Duke Nukem Forever (right down to trying to open the door to the toilet and the guy says "I'll be out when it's done!")

I'm sure the GTA series had some brilliant missions but I couldn't name them individually. The bank heist in GTA4, perhaps, some good Heat-style running battles in the street as you make your getaway - many of the GTA games have good film references, right back to the original (Speed 50mph limit, Die Hard 3 taxi driving etc).

Slightly off the wall choice but that reminds me that Kane & Lynch while overall nothing special did have some very good street battles as well.

Very few games get level design so atmospheric!

I came in here just to post this. It is probably the most scary and atmospheric level i have ever played.

This is the only video i've seen that gives the viewer a sense of just how scary it is without playing it yourself. The more he saves the more scared he is :p

(Dont watch this one if you plan on playing the level, because it will spoil the entire thing)

Mount Panorama track in Shift 2 is really interesting because it is so different from many race tracks with massive steep inclines and a huge daredevil downhill straight that can sometimes catch me out in terms of the braking zone for the final left hander.

I think a trip to Australia is in your future, because mount panorama is the Bathurst Circuit in Australia. I believe its used in a lot of touring car races, and obviously the Aussie V8s.

I think it was Rogue Spear of the Tom Clancy series, where you had to sneak into a house in the snow and steal a disc (I think).

Everfrost starter zone in EQ1. No map or compass, and a huge open zone with a low visibility due to the constant snow. You could easily wander out into the open away from the starter mobs, get completely lost and turned around, and end up running into an ice giant.

Getting out of the zone required a nerve wracking journey through blackburrow dungeon. You couldn't do it without a light source, the tunnel down was literally pitch black.

Genuine risk and tension, as opposed to the hand-held tutorial you get these days :p

I used to love Everquest, unfortunately they won't make anything like it any more. My favourite place was the Dwarf starter zone.

First level of Duke Nukem 3D - Pure Nostalgia for me.
Blast Pit - Half-Life - took me ages but was so satisfying in the end.

Pegasus Bridge from COD1 :)(

1st thing that sprung to mind for me, what really made that mission was the music. Things are turning bad, the Germans seem to be coming from every direction, the enemy tanks are rolling in, you start to believe that you can't win, then this music starts playing.

Utterly epic.

Quite a few others that have been mentioned, but 1 level I liked, especially at the time, was the alien ship level in Crysis, but I think I'm in the minority on that opinion ;)
