What are your 'must have' options / functionality?

For me, the next car I'm hoping to buy will ideally have:

Petrol engine
Automatic transmission
Electrically adjusted, heated leather seats
Climate control
Satnav
Bluetooth with audio streaming

Cars within my budget that I'm looking at thus far (or dribbling over) that tick all those boxes for me are the current BMW 328i or 335i in either Luxury or M Sport trim, or a previous shape Mercedes C250 or C350 AMG Sport.

Whole reason why haven't ended up in a list of cars.. Evo, scooby, s2000 etc.

I need my comfort toys.

Absolute must haves: Climate control, aircon, heated seats, auto lights/wipers/head mirror, cruise, USB music connection, comfy seats, at least half leather.

Would love a heated steering wheel, ready for the winter days :p

Why?

Your in a car not an airplane. Drive it! :)

When flying a plane I'd probably want all those creature comforts too. Operating a vehicle like the red baron would have flown doesn't appeal to me.

The other car i drive is a Civic Type S with many of the features mentioned.

I find cruise control massively annoying due to the other morons on the road who let you go past then overtake then slow down again, plus i often forget to turn it off when i would normally lift off an let engine braking work. Auto headlights? Why? Auto wipers? Why? heated front screen - nice but again i can see it. Heater seats and steering wheels? Are you gay? - although people with diesels might need these as they take so long to warm up. Climate ? I just lower the roof.

Dont need music when you are using an engine properly, other times the radio will do :p

Anything more than opening a window I can do without my hands leaving the steering wheel.

My winter prep is a wooly glove for the metal gearknob

Dont get a convertible then :p

Interesting use of the word 'operating' rather than 'driving', Explains your position

Maybe you can get an auto teeth picker.

A hat, a windscreen wiper motor mounted to it and an electric tooth brush duct taped to the wiper motor.

Driving sports cars is great when you can drive them. Sitting in traffic and dredging around motorways is a time for cooled, electric, heated, massaging, automatic everything-tronic.

Auto wipers are one of those things that you don't really see the need for until you have them then you never want to be without them. It's not about not being able to tell if its raining or not, infact you still need to turn the system on.

It's about having the wipers wiping at exactly the correct interval to clear the screen - my girlfriends Mini and my current rental car do not have auto wipers and its really, really irritating. Even with variable speed controls you find yourself often adjusting them, great.

The issue with these threads is nobody craves things they don't have which is what leads to the debates we are having here. Getting more stuff is like a ratchet - once you go up you don't want to go back down.

On my current car I particularly like the 8 speed auto, 10 inch widescreen navigation and auto lights - consequently I would now not purchase a vehicle which did not have these even though I loved my previous car which had none of those..

I have two cars one with auto wiper one without. Cant say i really care for it.

I think its quite nice letting the driver notice its raining and having to do something about it, hopefully this then translates to the rest of their driving, adapting to the rain.

Although i dont think I would buy a car without HIDs if I could avoid it

I have to notice its raining in order to activate my auto wipers.
