Around £9k on the road, orders being taken now for delivery in April.

More details here http://www.seastarsuperbikes.co.uk/zx142006detail.html

I think it'll be a bike bike you'll either hate the look of or love it, mines the latter.

Argh its not called the ZZR1400 anymore, its the ZX14, the ZZR was what it was known as during the design stage :)

It has no styling at all and is VERY ugly, but in the biker world it will turn heads if someone arrives one sunny sunday with one! No doubt it will go like the clappers in a straight line but it will cry and die in the corners, that was the main problem with the busa and the reason so many decided to get a sports 1000 insterd, not much in it performance wise but lots in it in terms of handling.

Sorry for breaking the rules :) Lesson learned.

Actually Luke, the 'Busa handles pretty well, its quite a deceptive bike.

A m8 of mine owned one for a while and I had a couple of goes on it. I expected to find the same thing as you described, but was pretty surprised when I hit the first twisty bit on a run. It actually went round corners without any dramas!!!.

His Busa had Tri-oval Akra's on it and had a mild tune with a PCIII. The power delivery was quite simply insane.

You didn't so much accelerate forward, it was more like the Millenium Falcon going into warp drive tbh. :p

ZZR1400
and CBR125

The busa is faster than the zx12r, proved countless times, easier to tune/modify, dosnt have the bhp of the 12 but the shape of the busa is for more than just looks :)

if your dad is seriously into his fast bikes maybe he should go along to one of the 200mph.org events, see what his bike can really do :)

Just as a point neither the busa or the 12 will hit 200mph as standard or even after the restricter has been bypassed...

Why get the CBR 125 ?

Ive always been told that if you want a fast 125cc , you need to get a 2-Stroke like the Aprilia RS125 Or Aprilia Tuono 125cc..

Im going to see a nice low milleage Tuono 125cc this weekend :D

The apprilia RS 125 is an amazing machine. it will just touch about 105mph (indicated) hit 60 in about 6 seconds and handle superbly. I went from a 125 scooter to one a few years back , and I have never had so much fun on a bike and Ive had a NC30 since and ridden a lot of bigger bikes. They would blow a CBR125 out of the water, and dont beleave the reliability stories, they are fine as long as you put proper oil in and look after it.

If you are boring, get the CBR, if you like to ride proper bikes get the RS125.

As for your dad, depends if he wants to go down the sports bike rout again (alaR1) or the mega tourer route (ala busa). My uncle's ZX12 R is an animal and actually handles really well. Personaly Id suggest try a twin like the Mille for a bit of a change, the torque is great, my dad went from a mille to a new R1 and he misses the mille. says the R1 has no soul.??

Doesnt handle as well as the zx12r tho...

The Busa has more torque but at top end the zx12r is just as fast... and at the end of the day, there isnt a road in the UK where you can use either of these bikes on the limit, so the handling is of far more importance than braggin rights...

Oh and resale values of the Busa are good right now as so many kitcar builders are buying the motors.. that will change once a few zx14's start getting crashed, they will take over...

And the ZX10 or a Duke 999 is where my money would go for a sports bike...

:D

You forget it will probably be illegal for him to de-restrict an RS. I got the CBR to learn about the roads on and that was all, did me fine, wasnt boring at all IMHO. I'd rather go for reliablilty and low running costs over what the RS can offer :)

All down to personal opinion though.
